Summer Beta Testing Trilogy: Part 3

I'm going to be rather brief about Medal of Honor because it is futile (and not just because nobody will ever actually read this). There are two parties that Medal of Honor information might interest.

  1. Logical people who know what makes a good shooter
  2. Sheeple who will go out and buy every new Medal of Honor or Call of Duty game on launch day (if not sooner) simply because it is a new Medal of Honor or Call of Duty game.
Enough people in the first group have already written about this game that everyone in the group now knows what a crapfest it will be. And the people in the second group will never, ever, ever, be persuaded to learn about the game before hitting the big shiny preorder button, or be persuaded against dropping fifteen dollars on a three map pack!

A brief rundown of why the latest installment in the Battlefield series is amazing this game even worse than the Modern Warfare dualogy after the jump.
Like I said; not putting a lot of time into this.
  1. No spawn points. You spawn on a random teammate.
  2. Absolutely no weapon recoil. (Yes you read that right and it's not a typo!)
  3. Tiny maps. (Seriously. It's like a sardine can.)
  4. The Americans' guns are statistically better! (Bye bye balance. Hello nationalism.)
  5. What? You need more? (The beta looks like a ps2 game.)
The spawning thing combined with the tinyness of the maps makes this game even more spray, pray, run, and gun than Modern Warfare. Was that even possible? It is literally impossible to create a plan and have that plan come to fruition.

The lack of weapon recoil combined with some serious control and network lag means that the aggressor always wins. By the time the game informs you you're being shot, you're already dead. And even if you had time to react, the game would not realize that you had pushed buttons on the controller until several seconds later.

The Americans having statistically better guns means that they will win almost every match unless the Iraqis outclass them significantly. It's interesting to note that, in the beta, when everyone was still learning the gist of the game, the Americans did, in fact, win every match I played.
